The Telangana government has partnered with Japanese businesses to build an Eco Town in Hyderabad, promoting environmental innovation and a circular economy. This collaboration represents a significant move toward the state’s long-term sustainable growth.

Visit to Kitakyushu Strengthens Ties

During a high-level visit to Kitakyushu, Japan, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Minister D. Sridhar Babu traveled on a bullet train from Osaka. Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by Kitakyushu Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi at the historic Kokura Castle. The visit included cultural performances by Samurai warriors and Taiko drummers, showcasing the rich heritage of Kitakyushu.

Building Strong Business Partnerships

The partnership includes leading Japanese firms such as EX Research Institute, P9 LLC, Nippon Steel Engineering, New Chemical Trading, and Amita Holdings. These companies will help create a Net Zero Future City in Hyderabad. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy praised Kitakyushu’s success in sustainable urban transformation and expressed his hope that Hyderabad would adopt similar practices for a greener and cleaner future.

Opportunities for Green Investment

Minister Sridhar Babu showcased Telangana’s pro-investment policies and rapid industrial growth. He invited Japanese companies to explore green industry opportunities in the state. The delegation also discussed the possibility of launching a direct flight between Kitakyushu and Hyderabad, which would facilitate trade and economic cooperation.

Strengthening Cultural and Educational Ties

To further enhance collaboration, the Telangana delegation proposed the creation of a Japanese-language school in Hyderabad. This would bridge the language gap and help meet Japan’s demand for a skilled workforce. The proposal aims to promote cultural exchanges and foster greater understanding between the two regions.

Learning from Kitakyushu’s Environmental Achievements

The Telangana delegation visited industrial recycling facilities and the Murasaki River restoration project in Kitakyushu. These visits provided valuable insights into Japan’s circular economy practices and highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and innovative solutions for sustainable cities.

A Commitment to Future Growth

Both parties have agreed to a systematic review process to track the partnership’s progress. The focus will remain on sustainable urban development, eco-friendly infrastructure, and the use of green technologies. This collaboration positions Hyderabad as a leader in sustainable city planning.
