
Heavy Rains Hit Hyderabad and Surrounding Districts During Peak Summer
In an unexpected turn of events, Hyderabad and multiple districts across Telangana were hit by heavy rains and thunderstorms on Wednesday evening, lasting into the early hours of Thursday. This significant rainfall occurred during the hottest month of the year, offering a surprising weather shift.
Rainfall Hits Hard in Key Areas
Some localities experienced record-breaking showers. Bandlaguda in Hyderabad recorded 99 mm of rain, while Medak district witnessed 119.3 mm, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).
Other rain-affected spots include:
- Saroornagar: 90.6 mm
- Malakpet (Millath Community Hall): 91.8 mm
- Asmangadh: 92.3 mm
- Amberpet (Palton Community Hall): 89 mm
Overall, 13 locations received between 64 mm to 115 mm of rainfall in just a few hours.
More Rain Expected Across Telangana
The Hyderabad MET department has predicted that heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue across many parts of the state. Masaipet in Medak recorded 112.5 mm, while Tapalpur in Jannaram (Mancherial) also reported intense rainfall.
Temperature Drops Across City
The unseasonal rainfall has led to a noticeable drop in temperature across Hyderabad, offering temporary relief from the usual May heat.
