Telangana Seminar Highlights Civil Services Opportunities and UPSC Preparation for Fresh Graduates

Hyderabad: Civil Services is an attractive career for those committed to addressing complex social, cultural, economic, and political challenges, noted Dr. G. Vivekananda, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Defense. He shared these insights during a seminar titled “Civil Services – the G.O.A.T Career for Fresh Graduates,” organized by Telangana Today, Namasthe Telangana, and Reflections IAS Academy at CMR Institute of Technology in Medchal on Saturday.

Building Problem-Solving Skills for UPSC Success

Dr. Vivekananda emphasized the shift from rote learning to analytical and solution-oriented skills essential for success in the UPSC exams. “A focus on problem-solving is crucial for administrative roles, where one is expected to provide impactful solutions,” he explained. According to him, securing a position with UPSC not only provides job stability but also enables graduates to tackle societal issues effectively.

Insights into Preparation Strategies and Alternatives

The seminar encouraged interactive discussions, with students eagerly posing questions. In response to a question about alternative career plans, Dr. Vivekananda suggested that consistent and focused study could yield success in under two years, often making a “Plan B” unnecessary.

UPSC Exam Opportunities and Motivations

Ramana Muppala, Founder and Director of Reflections IAS Academy, discussed the motivations behind pursuing civil services, highlighting the legitimate authority it offers for societal change. He explained that UPSC issues annual exam notifications with up to six attempts allowed, which prepares candidates for other state and national public service exams as well.

Encouragement from CMR IT College Leadership

CMR IT College Director, Dr. Janga Reddy, encouraged students to absorb the valuable insights shared by the speakers, emphasizing the importance of personal and professional development. College Principal Dr. Madhusudan Rao and department heads were also present, expressing appreciation to Telangana Publications for organizing the seminar.
