‘Pushpa-Style’ Cattle Smuggling Busted in Telangana, 33 Animals Rescued

In a daring crackdown, Telangana police, assisted by Bajrang Dal activists, uncovered a major cattle smuggling operation in Choutuppal mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

Smugglers Caught Using “Pushpa-Style” Methods

The smugglers had hidden 12 cows and 21 bulls inside a DCM lorry, cleverly concealed beneath ordinary cardboard boxes, a tactic reminiscent of the creative smuggling techniques shown in the popular movie Pushpa.

Interception at Valigonda Checkpost

The operation came to light during a routine vehicle inspection at the Valigonda checkpost. Officers grew suspicious of the lorry’s cargo and, upon inspection, found the illegally transported cattle.

Bajrang Dal activists had initially intercepted the vehicle in Choutuppal and immediately alerted the police, resulting in the successful joint operation.

Arrests and Seizure

Choutuppal Police Inspector Manmadha Kumar confirmed:

“The vehicle has been seized, and the driver, Appala Kumaraswamy, has been arrested. The cattle have been safely moved to a cowshed in Challur, and a case has been registered.”

An investigation is ongoing to uncover the full network behind the smuggling operation.

Illegal Cattle Transport – A Persistent Challenge

This incident highlights the growing problem of illegal cattle transportation in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The smugglers’ unusual method drew comparisons to the fictional smuggling of red sandalwood in Pushpa, but in this real-life scenario, livestock was the contraband.
