Nagarkurnool, Telangana – The rescue team has recovered a second body from the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool, where eight workers were trapped following the collapse on February 22, 2025.
Rescue Teams Discover Another Victim
According to reports, rescue teams discovered the body early Tuesday morning. “We found another body trapped in a particular position, and efforts are underway to retrieve it,” officials stated, as per ANI. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.
SLBC Tunnel Collapse: Tragedy Unfolds
The SLBC tunnel collapse incident has been a distressing ordeal, with eight workers initially trapped inside. The first recovered body, identified as Gurpreet Singh, was retrieved on March 9, 2025.
Government’s Response and Financial Aid
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced ₹25 lakh financial assistance for the families of the deceased workers. Additionally, he directed officials to expedite the rescue operations and instructed Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to appoint senior IAS officer Shiva Shankar Loteti as the Special Officer to oversee the efforts.
